Missed chances early on cost Fever dearly in the encounter again who have become the bogey team. Byrnes men were by far the better team for the first 30 minutes and the game should've been over after the first period, but once Hammer scored the first, they found themselves 4-0, frustrated, down and out. Byrne rang the changes with a strong bench at his disposal and Fever came hammering on Hammers door. Rowe and Er Rajfi were both guilty of missing from a few yards out, chances they would've buried on any given day. With a front 3 of Pallos, Pusnik and Williamson, the first came from a Pallos header. Williamson whose towering presence is such a bonus for the men in black tapped in the second, with the Hammer goalkeeper appearing to bite him as he went for the ball to set up Pallos's first goal. Fever kept on pressing and were unlucky not to make it 4-3 with Pusnik failing to capitalise with a chance on his weaker foot. Pina, Williamson and Pallos were all guilty of squandering chances which could've made the difference at the end of the day. David Pegg, who had a nightmare in defence for the second time in a row was given a role as the only defender for Fever as the clock ticked away, but the whistle went, and Fever need to learn from these mistakes that continue to happen on the second day of the season. A disappointing result and revenge is surely in the back of their minds come the reverse tie.
Third place in the table is what they must settle for with these weekends tie against Russian Style minus an injured Williamson likely to be postponed until a date in October.
The season is still young and despite ruining CIS Bulkers on matchday one, there is still a long way to go.
Man of the Match: Simon Williamson.
