The first in our player interviews is with the very modest self proclaimed womaniser Sebastian Auger ...
SFFC: Tell us a bit about yourself.
SA: I’m 24, from Bradford in Northern England. I teach Middle School over in Namyangju. This is my second year in Korea – first year was a bit hectic, living in Gangnam teaching kindergarten, was such an easy job, I just got wankered every night, so I moved a little out of Seoul to avoid the temptation of midweek drinking and chasing women! I like to think I have had a decent education in football, as I’ve always played for quality teams, initially starting as a centre back, but I’ve played in all positions but am most effective as an attacking midfielder. I signed for Leeds United’s academy team at 14, stayed there for a year or so, but had to quit football all together for a year due to a growth problem with my sciatic nerves/hamstrings, struggled to get back to my best after that. If I had to compare myself to a player, I would say Xavi – he doesn’t score loads, isn’t known for tackling, but holds his position well, uses the ball effectively, creates chances and generally makes himself available at all times to receive the ball, making his team tick.
SFFC: What's your personal favourite moment in your time at Seoul Fever?
SA: Got 3 assists in the first game Fever played, but lf we are including games playing under Groove then I’d say the game against Manam Phoenix last year. I scored (rare occurrence!) and played well, but it was my team mates who made it enjoyable as they all fought to the death around me. I was proud to play with them that day… shame I haven’t seen a repeat of that desire, discipline and attitude since.
SFFC: What player should we be looking out for at the Fever this season?
SA: ME!!! I’m stronger and fitter than last year and well in the mood to play… but other than me, I’m looking forward to playing with Bertrand who has clearly got a bit of ability, and Smoggie who looks like a beast at the back along with Dan.
SFFC: What are your hopes for the team this season?
SA: Win everything. Simple. But that isn’t all, I think we can do it in style… we have the ability now, we just need the aforementioned desire, discipline and attitude we showed against Mannam.
SFFC: What football teams do you follow and who are your footballing idols?
SA: Manchester United. Roy Keane, who epitomizes the energy and passion I want to display in my game, but I also admire Xavi, whose ability to pick a pass and constantly receive the ball have been the fundamental attributes I have built my own game upon.
SFFC: How do you want to be remembered at Seoul Fever?
SA: #10 – the string puller with commitment and passion for the game and his team mates.
